Mr. Heater ™ BIG Buddy on our sailboat YachtAFun

Last winter, in Southport NC, the temperatures got down to 19 degrees at night.  One of Diann’s friends told her of the Buddy Heater which runs on propane.

This is our grill tank, a five pounder. It will get switched for a 20 pound tank.

Yacht A Fun, our Gemini catamaran sailboat will be in New Bern NC for the winter of 2016.  We bought a “BIG Buddy”.  The darned thing does such a good job on low, it’s reminiscent of our Vermont Casting gas log stove when on land !

There is no question that we will enjoy this stove most evenings before going to bed.  It sits on the a/c unit.  A small room fan blows  air across our ceiling to distribute the heat and prevent the ceiling from getting hot from convection currents.

The estimated burn rate is 100 hours on a 20 pound tank.  At current fill costs that’s just 20 cents and hour.  Using our electric ceramic heater is close to 27 cents an hour at New Bern electric rates- and doesn’t put off as much heat or feel like a fireplace.

Turn off the lights and the Buddy’s red glow warms the salon.

If turned up to High, both ceramic tiles glow red. We'll wait for dead of winter for that test !

How nice !!
