Aerie Ferry Trent River Tour- New Bern, NC

Many cruisers ask about how to earn money to supplement their cruising funds.   Having your USCG Captain’s License is certainly one of the ways. The business of being on Yacht A Fun, our Gemini sailing catamaran, includes providing boating related contract services.  That can mean serving as a captain on other company’s boats as well as our own.    Not bad, eh?

A couple of weeks ago I connected with Captain Dave, who owns the New Bern, NC based “Aerie Ferry” pontoon tour boat.  Thankfully we hit it off and so I now have the pleasure of taking passengers for a tour which begins along the Neuse River, turns under the A.A. Cunningham Bridge, and continues through the rail road swing bridge- which begins the Trent River portion of the trip.   Ultimately we reach the house of author Nicholas Sparks and loop back.     It’s a total of twelve miles paced to highlight points of interest over twelve miles in 90 minutes.
