We were early to arrive at Lake Sylvia on Thursday. Since weekend travelers, and local folks, were few- we were able to pick an anchor spot close to our one back in February. Hopefully holding will be as good as then.
The “lake” is close to marinas and so gaining fuel via 5 gallon jerry-jugs is pretty easy. The process of fueling by jerry-jug is relatively easy and doesn’t involve standing off a fuel dock to await tying up. Marinas serving larger power boats are happy to not have a sailboat take up space for buying small quantities of fuel.
Just beyond the Lauderdale Marina is Southport Raw Bar. The restaurant has a great happy hour, allows dinghy docking, and is close to Winn Dixie and other such stores.
