Our West Marine / Avon dinghy with 15 hp Mercury four stroke has served us well since 2004. So far, I’ve only had to have it professionally serviced once. When the engine doesn’t want to crank easily, it has generally been dirty spark plugs.
Fortunately the dinghy had consistently (but fitfully) cranked during our initial stay in Coconut Grove. Upon our return via water taxi, from our trip home, it simply would not fire up.
Dirty spark plugs wouldn’t fire
Two new spark plugs were swapped for old and it fired up on the second pull. We can, again, have our “water car” parked at our Gemini catamaran “house”.
