“Casa San Carlo” Morehead City, NC

Italian food in Morehead City, NC recently got a new venue. Casa San Carlo is located at 913 Arendell Street. The location is about a seven block walk from the primary marinas at the harbor.

Diann and I left our Gemini catamaran, Yacht a Fun, and joined New Bern friends for a car trip to check out the food. We weren’t disappointed.

The Veal Picatta was spot on ! I rate the flavor in my top three restaurant experiences for that entre’ . Our pasta side dishes all had a red sauce. My preference would have been plain angel hair so that the Picatta sauce could have been enjoyed more extensively.

Diann’s “Chicken alla Carlo” had prosciutto ham and an undisclosed “brown sauce”. It was indeed good, too.

Acoustics seem to have not been on the owner’s radar however. The dining room is large; rectangular; with metal ceiling deck; and laminate flooring. Happy patrons were all talking. The resulting cacophony was as bad as I’ve ever experienced. If the food were less good- I’d not go back.

Service was very attentive, though I believe the young man was stretched thin. To make up for the kitchen’s delay with our entre’s he volunteered a shared small plate of the pasta side dish- which we also later had delivered with our meals. He did the best one could.

My recommendation is to give the place a try. When again in Morehead City for diner we’ll give it another go for sure.
